Safety Of Forklift Propane Tank

Forklift Propane Tanks have to meet strict specifications, they have a built in device that will automatically shut it off in case of an accident making the propane forklift safe to use inside and outside. The tanks are very portable and can be stored and taken to the site. Forklift propane tanks look similar to a beer keg. Most propane powered forklifts use a 33 cylinder tank and can run up to 8 hours on one tank, if they are not installed properly you can lose power or the engine could just shut off. They do not require a PD valve in order to be refilled. When changing the tank there are some things you should not do, do not use metal tools when changing the tank because of the risk of sparks causing it to ignite, do not let the tank get too hot, do not drag or roll the tank, do not use anything with a flame such as a lighter or matches around it, and do not mount more than 2 tanks on one forklift.

There are a several brands of forklifts, the more popular ones include Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Komatsu, and Caterpiller just to name a few that you can purchase that use forklift propane tanks. There are safe handling instructions when replacing a tank, when you are done using the forklift or you are changing it out with another one it is very important to make sure the valve is off because a little could still leak out, avoid contact with the propane as it can cause frostbite, wear protective gloves when doing the exchange, and change the tank outside if possible away from anything flammable. Since oil prices are up and down right now it is hard to give a specific cost of filling one but you can count on it being around $15.00. If you feel a tank has a bad gauge on it then have it replace immediately. All the safety suggestions also pertain to any kind propane tanks and devices including forklifts and forklift propane tanks. If not correctly used these can cause serious injuries or even death.
